The results of the competency assessment have deteriorated further.
In mathematics, the 11th grade scored 1,755 skill points last year, but only 1,709 this year. In reading comprehension, the average score for the grade was 1,715 points in 2023, while this year it dropped to 1,672 points.

In mathematics, 7th graders scored 38 points less, 9th graders 31 points less, and 6th, 8th, and 10th graders scored between 8 to 15 points less compared to previous years.
However, there was some improvement in the results for grades 6-8: students showed a 4-7 point improvement in English as a foreign language. For German, the results were worse, except for 8th graders, who improved by 19 points compared to last year.
The 2025 competency assessment will take place between March 24 and May 30. During the 2023/2024 school year, 584,000 students from 3,050 schools completed the online test. The Ministry of the Interior had previously planned to evaluate the tests with grades, which was supposed to start this March, but they have now decided not to introduce this measure for the time being.
