Huge win for Kovacs Gergely

2025.04.02

The Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Party (MKKP) is back on track to hold their Million Marijuana March on April 20, after the Curia threw out the police's ban. They posted the update on Facebook.

On March 21, the police banned the peaceful protest for weed legalization, pointing to a planned change in the Fundamental Law—even though that change hasn't even been made yet. The government's aiming to update the constitution to include not just the protection of kids and their development, but also a strict zero-tolerance policy on drugs.

After the MKKP appealed the decision, the Curia ruled that you can't ban an event based on a law that doesn't even exist yet.

So this means the party can go ahead with the Million Marijuana March at Madách Square in Budapest again this year. You can check out our coverage of the 2024 event here, and the 2023 one here.
